Hello CarJunkys..... I have a 94 Chev. P/U..... 4.3.... Recently, clutch on compressor started making lots of noise.... next day it stopped any attempt to cycle....I'm only going by noise clutch made....Nothing happened to make me think I had sudden loss of freon..... Am I barking up the wrong tree???? I'm getting ready to change compressor clutch.... I have a puller, but I'm wondering if the press fit doesn't require a tool to re-install.... End of compressor shaft is male thread.... inside of clutch face is female thread........ Is there a install tool or or is the old hitting with a hammer to only way..... thanks for the info....

Don't take this the wrong way & I'm not trying to be mean here..... But just going off what you've posted, you are in way way over your head here.... Doing the clutch takes a special puller but at this point you really don't even know why the system stopped working.... You should at the minimum see what the static pressure is and if you are getting power to the clutch.... If it turns out to be a bad clutch, you'd be better off changing the whole compressor assembly, along with everything else that goes along with it........
