1989 Buick Park Ave Heat Blowing after car is turned off Sign In

I have a 1989 Buick Park Ave And I am having an issue with my Heat blowing after the car is turned off. The only way I know how to stop it from blowing is to disconnect the battery. It was running fine and would turn off after the car was turned off a while ago, but just one day it started to do this. I have climate control in the car which doesnt work right either (but hasnt worked for a few years now) So I dont think this would cause the heat to blow all the time. The heat will Blow all the time and never stop while the car is running too and at the highest temp. setting. Which can not be changed now that the heat stays blowing all the time.

I would just like to be able to get it turn off after the car is turned off, so I dont have to disconnect the battery every time I drive it.

What do you think is causing my heat to blow all the time?

This is a first for me so hope others chime in here. With key off and out there should be no power available so this lead to a relay that is stuck, perhaps a fusable link that touches something hot (shorted).

This is likely more than just the fan staying on. I'd pull fuses on the things that stay empowered whle car is off and see if one shuts down the blower also when pulled and look for the short in a common area to both.

A maybe: There should be something in the input heater hose that senses temp to delay the blower when engine is cold with climate control systems. Take a look-see around there and see if there's something funky going onCrazy

This sounds like a fault in the blower control module itself.
When they go "Nuts" ,sometimes they will only blow on high and you cannot regulate the temperature at all.
Not 100% sure on the Buick..but on the Cadillac model, there is constant voltage at the blower motor, even with the key off, blower will not operate until it gets its ground from the blower control module. If you were to run a separate ground,it would only run on high and temp would not regulate.

If Blower runs with Ignition Switch OFF, replace Blower Control Module.

Ok, I looked at the relay's and I had disconnected wires off relays and then tried the + battery relay, and I found the blower motor wire on batter relay. Once I disconnected it, it stopped running (obviously, without power it wont run) I tried to rearrange the wires so they didnt touch the same wires, and it still came back on. (I thought maybe it was grounding with some other wire connection)

So, now I will try to change the other part you mentioned and see how that works. I will let you know what happens as soon as I can.
Thanks again, for all your help.
Cars.. really frustrate me sometimes,

Hello
I just wanted to let you know that it was the blower motor module. After searching scrap yards and trying about 3 used parts, we finally found one that worked and fixed the problem. We also changed the relay that was with the newer module part. I dont know if that was required to make it work, but we changed them both together anyway. (they were both from the same car at the scrap yard)

Thanks again for your help
Now enjoying my heat that works Cool
