HAVE AN 03 S-10 WITH 4.3 V-6. RECENTLY PULLED DASH TO REPLACE HEATER CORE. AC WORKED FINE BEFORE. NOW COMPRESSOR WILL NOT KICK ON. CHECKED ALL FUSES IN FUSE PANEL ON SIDE OF DASH. TRYED TO CHECK RELAY UNDER HOOD, BUT COULD NOT GET AC RELAY TO COME OUT. PULLED DASH OUT AGAIN TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING CONNECTED PROPERLY, AND CAN SEE NO ISSUES THERE. ANY ADVISE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Dumb question but did you recharge the system after putting the dash back in?

NOT A DUMB QUESTIONS AT ALL. HAVE NOT RECHARGED SYSTEM CAUSE DID NOT DISCONNECT ANY OF THE AC SYSTEM WHEN REMOVING DASH.
NOT SURE IF I CAN EVEN ADD TO SYSTEM WITHOUT COMPRESSOR BEING ON. DO NOT WANT TO OVERCHARGE

Well, check all your wiring connections, all the switches, especially the one on the accumulator, and all the fuses. If all that checks out, then you'll have to check the pressure to make sure is still have refrigerant in it.
If you still have problems. I've give you a wiring diagram to follow.

You need a minimum of 50 PSI "off" for the compressor to engage.

To add:

Pressure should be close to ambient temp if F Just sitting still. If not there's a leak to be found and fixed, - could have been just bad luck?

Re: 03 S-10 A COMPRESSOR WILL NOT COME ON Sign In

WENT AHEAD AND FED A CAN OF R134A INTO THE SYSTEM. COMPRESSOR ACTUALLY KICKED ON FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN KICKED BACK OFF, THEN KICKED BACK ON, AND OFF, AND ON. WELL YOU GET THE PICTURE. WHEN THE CAN WAS EMPTY, I CHECKED THE PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM. WHEN THE COMPRESSOR WAS CYCLED ON, PRESSURE WAS ABOUT30 PSI, BUT WHEN IT CYCLED OFF, PRESSURE JUMPED TO ABOUT 70 PSI. 70 PSI IS IN THE RED ZONE ON MY GAUGE SO AM KINDA FREAKED OUT. ANY IDEA WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT ? JUST MADE THE LAST PAYMENT, SO REALLY HATE TO GET RID OF MY TRUCK. THANKS

It's short cycling because it's still low on refrigerant. Add another can, maybe 2.

At this same section go to "charging produdures" high on the list. If not charged near exactly right it won't work right - worse it can cost you thousands if not done right! Way over can lock up and under will underlube compressor. It's not a crap shoot and try thing and you need gauges + a scale or get help!

The total capacity for that truck is 28 ounces. the cans should be 12 ounce each so an empty system will hold 2.5 cans. I suspect yours started with less than 2 ounces so you can calculate how much to put in. No more than 2.5 cans.
