02 intrepid 2.7l overheating

got an 02 intrepid that is acting really weird
car overheating when going over 70mph with ac on but doesn't when ac off weird I know
replaced coolant tube under intake, found radiator tanks with holes(bought with it like this)
replaced radiator and thermostat put new coolant in it
combustion tested dye didn't change colors, compression tested found good
replaced ect sensor
performed sucking system dry to remove any air/coolant while adding new coolant
if coolant is topped off and drove for a while coolant is lost but not externally
vehicle running real smooth and not smoking found no water/coolant in oil
with coolant cap off and running until it reaches normal operating temp coolant remains in resiviour then starts overflowing out
yes fans come on and go off as should
this is a nightmare and maybe im over thinking it but for the life of me I cant figure it out and only come to the conclusion that its the water pump and had the thought of bad head gaskets but I know how much of a nightmare those are so before I go that deep what am I missing on this thing......

You probably have a blown head gasket from the original overheating. Those chemical test are not very reliable at all. The best way is to have a shop check the coolant with an exhaust analyzer for hydrocarbons.

also there are no bubbles in coolant the coolant just continues to rise out of jug slowly but continueously

That the chemical test didn't show anything and there are no bubbles. It can still have a bad head gasket.

yes this I know but other than tearing down possibly for no reason could be the only way to tell if the gaskets are bad..
When they make tools and there are identifying signs of possible head/gasket issues, cant just go in on a hunch that they are bad without proof of some sort. maybe you can but im not that type. I like to have all my ducks in a row before I get into something that I know for sure is wrong.
now if water pump had somehow spun off its propeller without causing gear to come off and jump time(theoretical) or if there was a blockage or if when the head gaskets were replaced before may have been put on upside down I don't know that's why im seeking advice from somewhere else

I didn't tell you to go on a hunch. I advised you to use an exhaust analyzer to sniff for hydrocarbons in the coolant.

your not convinced... SO some more testing... maybe pressure test system.. rent borrow buy a pressure tester- alot easier to search for a leak on a cool not operating eng.. also remove plugs the plugs on a cylinder with a coolant leak
often appear clean as in steam cleaned compared to others...

Patrick: My 2 cents and agree with the guys on this. It's scary to blame a head gasket issue and be wrong. Personally I really like a couple bits of real evidence if not obvious and batting 1,000 so far. Some are so obvious you don't have this concern.
It overheated on you - uggh. That's damning alone and the reason for that still out there isn't it? Didn't you say it happened at higher speeds with A/C use but not without? Radiator or cooling system problem was the likely cause of overheat from the read. What you won't know for absolute sure is if a defect/flaw about the head or other is the problem till right there,

I'm not sure what type of tools you have to work with or how far you want to go with this.. Detecting bad head gaskets in the early stages of failure has always been a PITA to do......I've never had any luck with chemical testing.....The only time I have ever got the fluid to change color was on cars with obvious head gasket leaks....
As HT already said, using an exhaust gas analyzer is one good way to check...Another good test is using a leak down tester on each cyl, with the rad cap off, look for bubbles or a rising coolant level while the air is hooked up.. The way that works well for me now is using a pressure transducer hooked up to the cooling system & looking for pressure while cranking & running cold....
All these tests require tools most DIYers don't have......If you have to go the tool rental way....... A leak down tester would probably be the most economical & accurate way.....Unless you can get a tech to put the sniffer over the open system & look for HCs & CO

There is a lower tech way you can try if you want. Get a spill free coolant funnel. Lisle makes a nice one with adapters for pretty cheap. Swing by your local hardware store and get a carbon monoxide detector.
Draw down the coolant level enough that it will not come up into the funnel when the engine is running. Place the CO detector inside the funnel face down so you are looking at the back of it. Put a plastic bag over top of the funnel. Now start the engine and let it run for a little while. Listen for the alarm to go off. If it does you have a confirmed leak. CO is a byproduct of combustion. The CO detector is a little more sensitive than the chemical tests.
The hydrocarbon tester is the best way to do this, but the machine is a few grand. You might be able to find it this way for $50, and you'll have other uses for the funnel later. Wouldn't hurt to have a CO detector in your house anyway.

That's a good idea Nick. Would be nice to have a second test to confirm if the block tester is reading correctly. Headn to home depot....LOL
