I've recently had a new alternator put on my 89 Honda Accord Lxi (the old one died a very very prolonged death having drained a whole new battery before i realized the battery wasn't the issue).
Ever since then the Idle speed, once the car's warmed up, has been low. The car sort of shakes a bit when i'm sitting at a light. It's especially noticeable when i turn on my head lights or use the widow motors, the rpms drop to about 500-600 from 800 or so when i do that.
I noticed one of the screws that held on the distributor was missing after the car came back from the mechanic so they obviously took a look and decided to save me the trouble of unscrewing both bolts next time.
I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. I'm taking a wild guess and assuming it's some sort of electrical issue that arose when the alternator was replaced.
Either the mechanics screwed up or some other part is about to go. What could it be?

Replace your battery. If there is power loss it can be sparky's, DIST, ALT or Battery. If you have had ALT replaced, try getting your battery testing. Your car is having trouble disbursing power to all accessories cause there isnt enough being generated. Check the amperage on your ALT, make sure it is the same amps that it was before. If your ALT is not putting out enough amps, this could also be a problem. you can find out amperage by looking at sticker on ALT, then go online and find out what it si supposed to be. But get battery checked in meantime.
