Re: vacuume line leak Sign In

That code isn't for a vacuum leak.

It's an evap code for a large leak. Check your gas cap & o ring, look at the filler neck, check hoses underneath around the fuel tank & canister.......

Re: vacuume line leak Sign In

As Sidom already told you, that code has nothing to do with a vacuum leak. The fuel tank is a sealed system and it's failing the pressure test. the gas cap is the most common cause but it can be any number of things. the only way you can find a problem like this is with a smoke tester. If you don't have one, don't even waste your time looking.

Re: vacuum line leak Sign In

Just a note on finding vacuum leaks:

If you spray non flammable brake cleaner (don't allow it on car paint) at suspect areas while engine is idling the idle will change or even stall engine. That's the area to work on if found that way.

You can do this with carb cleaner too but it can catch on fire* so I suggest the non flammable route if looking. Gas caps mean a lot on certain cars. If it was mixed up at a gas station you need the right one!

*Not funny!

Re: vacuume line leak Sign In

She has an EVAP code, not a vacuum leak.

okay i had a smoke test done and they couldnt find any thing other than a solenoid was bad that was so we replaced the canister solenoid valve down by the gas tank could this have been the problem?? The par is in now were waiting and driving it to see if the light comes back on. The car is still reveing up to 3000 rpm and and drops down to 1200 what could or would be causing this i just replaced all boots and spark plugs cause they were bad hmm any help would greatly be appreciated thanks shari

Re: vacuume line leak Sign In

The solenoid could have been the PO440 problem.

The RPM problem could be a vacuum leak but this is the first mention of that problem. The smoke test can be used to find that also.
