I have a 1988 GMC S15 pick up. The idle is not stable and floating between 1600-1800. Is there anyone knows what this problem could be? Your answer will be very much appreciated.

Check that the gasket between the throttle body injection (TBI) unit and the intake manifold hasn’t failed. This was a very common problem that a section of the gasket would break away allowing un-metered air (vacuum leak) to enter the engine.

Dan.

Not sure what you had written for Tom to edit your post but I know he would have had his reasons; just be careful what you type.

Great suggestion Dan as usual. I simply removed a hyperlink that and should have said that in first post. Copied posts from other sites come with their ads in hyperlink form. The post reads exactly as it was posted.....
