I have a 89 honda prelude 5 speed and when I hit the brakes the turn signal comes one???

it could be that the bulb has gotten hot and melded the two contacts together.

Bad earth to brakes OR Get an auto electrician or a mechanic to check your continuity in your wiring. Someone may have tapped your brake wire for a power supply to indicators. Double check they are both continuous, separately.

well this sounds like u either have a blown fuse,baulbs are bad or ur wires melted...

1. Blown fuses do not cause shorts in electrical components, they are used as a kind of "breaker" if you will. If the fuse is blown, it wont work. 2. The globes have nothing to do with it, they are only illuminated under current. If the bulbs are faulty, they will flicker, or blow. The filament in globes is what illuminates them, if that gone, NO LIGHT. 3. Your 3rd theory is plausible. But if the wires would melt, it means a short as i mentioned ealier.
