I have a "99" chevy pick up with 160,000 miles on it, just got a new transmission and fly wheel put in about a week ago, the day after I got it back, the engine oil started to leak, could the mechanic that put in my fly wheel and transmission did something wrong, or is this just a coinsidence??

I'll have to ask my son, it's his truck, but I guess another question is... does the mechanic have to drain the engine oil to put a transmission and fly wheel on?

Answer to your question, no it is not leaking where they did the work, it's leaking from the bottom of the heads

Look carefully to be sure it is not coming from the oil pressure sender on the back of the engine behind ther intake and running over there. Also look at the intake seal on the back of engine to be sure it is not leaking. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

He had it towed to the dealer, he thinks the person who put the transmission in might have messed it up, especially if the engine oil had to be drained to fix it, do you know if they have to drain the oil to fix a transmission?

The engine oil should not have to be drained to replace the transmission. There is no fluid connection between the engine and transmission. However, it is possible the sending unit was cracked by the engine being tilted backwards while the transmission was being removed or installed. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
