trans axles on a 99 kia sephia

i have a 99 Kia Sephia and the cv joints went out so i decided to just replace the trans axles because i heard it was easier to do and i'm stuck i removed the wheel hub and everything so that the axles should come out but the axles wont come out i've tried the pry bar the screwdriver and had some one pull on it while i use the pry bar and it still wont budge so i'm wondering if i just need to keep prying on it or is there some kind of clip or something that i need to remove before the axle will come out.
p.s.
its a manual transmission
