They talked me into getting my water pump changed at the same time. Now they called me about changing a tension pulley that cost about 200 dollars. Am I getting fished? DanD Veteran / Moderator Nov 21, 2006, 10:43 AM Post #2 of 3 (2517 views) Re: toyota timing belt Sign In No I don’t think your getting “fished” in here it’s not uncommon to find a worn or loose bearing in one of the idler pulleys or the tensioner pulley. There would be no way of telling if there was until the belt was off and the pulleys are allowed to freewheel to check it. The only thing they could/should have done was maybe warn you that this was the case. Hindsight is always 20/20. Dan.
