Sign In I'm trying to change my tilt steering bearings on my '78 camaro, i have the steering wheel and lock plate off, but i can't get the housing piece off, is there some kind of trick to it??? help please, i'm getting frustrated chevyguy78 Double J Veteran / Moderator Apr 22, 2008, 9:16 PM Post #2 of 3 (1569 views) Re: tilt steering in a '78 camaro??? Sign In It is mounted with 3 bolts..(torx I believe) Necessary to remove the turn signal switch screws and screw that holds the turn signal stalk to the switch.. Also need to remove the ignition lock cylinder,usually mounted with a small torx screw...some have a release tab that has to be pushed in...you will have to turn the ignition on first,remove the little switch with the 2 long copper pieces and a small clip should come out too...note how its oriented so you can put it back together properly. When removing the housing,there will be a small plastic piece that will fall out on the left side of the column,that is for the dimmer switch.
