I have a 95 chevy lumina sedan 3.1l. Quite often the temperature gauge rockets up, but if I step on the gas or make a quick turn it will sometimes go back down. When I go to put water in it hardly takes any? Would this be a stuck thermostat? The fans working. ThankYou!Frown

i had the same year car with the same motor and the same problem LOL. it turned out that air was getting into the coolant system through a crack in the radiator. mine cracked on the plastic side tank of the radiator where the upper coolant hose nipple is. so what i figured was happening was as the engine warmed up the crack expanded letting air into the system. And like you, if i floored the gas pedal or whipped the wheel the temp would go back to normal only to eventually increase again. so i believe that movement was moving the air bubble in the system.

at first i thought i possibly had a bad headgasket. so i popped the hood and opened the radiator car and let the car run and it was "burping" like crazy meaning there was a lot of air in there. and i just happend to accidently slightly lean on the upper radiator hose and saw coolant squirt out of the crack like a water gun.

i didnt plan on having the car long so i took some 2 part epoxy and sealed the crack. if you plan on keeping the car and find a crack in the plastic tank i would replace the radiator.
