I have a 90 Ford Ranger over 126,000 miles with a 2.9 liter engine. I some times have trouble starting the truck. I have had the battery, alternater, starter, battery cables, neutral switch on cluch pedal either replaced or checked by the auto parts store and by a repair shop. No one seems to think it is the soliad on the fender by the battery. The voltage meter in the dash will show a drop when items are in use(radio, lights, wipers, turn singles and AC unit).

What type of starting problem. Does it crank slowly or just not start quickly. How old is your battery? Never mind that it was checked which is marginal at best. The power and noted voltage drop while cranking is a better test. Try putting it on jumpers with another car and see if it behaves which would really tell you the battery is weak. They don't last as long as the claims made when you buy them. Some will go over five years but that's pushing it. 3 or 4 is about all you should let them go,
