running lean Sign In

what are the consequences with a running lean code?
problem is solved now(bad ful pump) but it was running lean for about 2 weeks

ehh your probably alright in your case, im sure people out there drive around with the check engine light on for that code and go months before getting it checked.

possible problems however.

O2 sensors
Catalytic Converter
possible burnt valves because the engine will actually run hot when lean

If you are not experiencing any problems, don't know that I'd worry about it. Crazy When an engine runs lean, that creates high combustion temperatures. Can cause pre-ignition that can do real nasty things, but if it did, you'd know it already. Can 'burn' valves, melt pistons (they are alluminum alloy), ect. Another reason to use the proper octane fuel. Many will burn the cheapest stuff they can pump. The lower the octane, the higher the combustion temp.
