right wheel locked up

2001 mercury sable,125000 miles. hey fellas, just bought this car 3 days ago. it sat in my driveway for a day or two until we registered it. drove okay ysterday. wife got into the car this morning, and the right wheel is locked up. when she was backing out, the left front wheel was driving the car backwards, but while dragging the left front wheel. any ideas?

I would say it's the caliper. Hammer Time is normally around during the day and can give better advice than I can so be sure to check back. He's a pro mechanic and knows his stuff.

As MG said this is highly likely a brake caliper but can also be the flex hose to it. If handy enough just bleed a spit out of the locked wheel and if it frees up it's the hose. What can happen is they let pressure in but can't return it so it locks that wheel where brakes were touched last. With brakes if something is one side do both sides equally. It shouldn't be the world to fix this, T
