removing starter from 1992 Ford Aerostar all wheel drive model

Trouble removing a starter motor from a 1992 all wheel drive 1992 Ford Aerostar. Exhaust and front differential drive shaft in the way. Any ideas welcome.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done an all wheel drive but think I had to remove the front drive shaft and then sneak the starter out that way?
