Re: reduce speed light Sign In

Do you mean reduce engine power light?

Which engine? Have the engine computer scanned for trouble codes. Write down the numbers.

Re: reduce speed light Sign In

It could be as simple as a gummed up throttle body, but like DS said, get it scanned for codes and post them here. DS or the other mechanics will be able to point you in the right direction. You can go to your local auto parts store such as Advanced or Auto Zone and they will scan it for free.

4.2L. 5.3L won't set a cam phaser code.

You sure that P0237 is the code you got. Doesn't appear to be a valid code.

The reduced engine power is being caused by the APP code P1271. The engine controller is seeing that the pedal position sensors don't agree. A glitch in either one of those pedal sensor inputs can cause the PCM to reduce engine power. The fun part is finding the problem. If it is a glitch, a volt meter or even a scan tool in graph mode won't catch it if it last for a few milliseconds. This is when you whip out the scope and do sweep tests. Inspect the pedal position sensor harness at the gas pedal. Make sure the connector terminals are clean and the terminal tension is good. Some of those APP codes can be a real nightmare to solve.

Re: reduce speed light Sign In

OK, the PO14 is a cam Phaser code as DS pointed out. This could be very complicated or as simple as being overdue for an oil change or low on oil but that code isn't the one you are referring to. The P1271 is a code for the Pedal Position sensor which is the other half of the throttle system. It's basically your gas pedal. There are some complicated tests to run to find the issue but the sensor itself is highly likely to be the problem.

Re: reduce speed light Sign In

As I already said. It's your gas pedal.
