pontiac trans am 5.7 v8

was driving and car died. looked under the hood and a couple of vacums houses had come off so i put them back on and the car work fine for like a day. now the car will start but dies a soon as it starts pushing the gas dosent help, so like engine just chokes out. would it be some type of senser or something else wrong with vacum?

Will the engine start and idle? Or won't stay running, at all? Kinda sounds like a lack of fuel. Can you find the schreader valve on the fuel rail? As soon as the engine dies, turn off the key and see if you have fuel at the valve. (watch your eyes, as it should be under pressure). If the fuel 'just dribbles' out, you may want to check fuel filter and fuel pressure. Is also possible that you could be losing spark or injector pulse, but that's for later testing. Start with the above, and let us know. (If you have a vacuum hose off @ the fuel pressure regulator, the pressure will go full rich causing an over-fueling condition). Loren SW Washington
