2005 cadillac escalade pinion seal

Does the rear end have a crush collar? if so do I have to replace it?

Re: pinion seal Sign In

I'm shocked you really need one in this new a vehicle! Been way too long but I don't think GM used a crush washer in much older full size vehicles. If whole carrier comes out and there's two bearings there you'll see how they did it and see the old one. I would use a new one and torque to spec if used while watching/feeling free play disappear,

Re: pinion seal Sign In

If it is just the pinion seal, record the torque needed to remove the pinion nut. Replace the seal and torque nut back to the previously recorded torque.
