overheating and radiator fan Sign In

i have a 93 taurus that is overheating and loosing water. it lookes like the water is coming out of an overflow tube on the radiator?? i also noticed the fan isnt working at all. so if that could be the reason its overheating, what exactly would need to be replaced? thanks for the help

Re: overheating and radiator fan Sign In

It is hard to say EXACTLY what the problem may be. There is a sensor that controls the fan, thate is also a relay that controls the fan(this is the constant control relay module CCRM---not cheap). Also the fan motor could be bad. Does the fan run with the A/C turned on? You can check for current at the fan by unplugging the fan and use a test light to see if there is current at the connection. Turn on the A/C to check for current. If the test light lights up, fan motor is bad. Let us know.

Just a thought. Is coolant full? Sometimes the recovery tank or lines to it fail and that will cause problems. The 3.8 was recalled for head gasket problems but that may have expired. If no fan -- is power getting to it? T

Again - does power get to the fan motor? If so check the ground. It should just come on with an A/C request if not warm enough. T
