i have a 1994 misubishi eclipse about 125,00 miles.the oil pressure is normal when start up but after car warms up drops down to about 1/4 what it normaly runs. when stop at light in idle oil light comes on but when start moving the light will go off. s there a filter on oil pump or should i replace oil pump. maybe a heavy oil would do better? thanks

Re: oil pump Sign In

The first thing to do is too have the oil pressure tested by using a mechanical gauge. This will confirm whether the problem is with the actual oil pressure or whether it is an electrical problem; as in a bad sending unit, dash unit or the wiring. I’m at home right now and don’t have access to my specs so I can’t tell you what the pressures should be but if you post back to remind me on Monday I’ll look it up.
Dan.
