o2 sensor question Sign In

Is it possible for a bad o2 sensor to cause a misfire in one of the cylinders?

Possibly. Depending on where sensor is and how car's computer deals with info from it - it could mis adjust the amount of fuel needed and perhaps just one cylinder can't deal with the now improper mix.

What is this car? Taking plugs out for inspection can tell a lot about what that cylinder is doing or doing wrong,

2003 chevy 3500 express van
I got a code for bad o2 sensor and misfire in cylinder 3. Changed the sensor, and the check engine light is now off but I only ran truck for 10 minutes. Will find out tommorrow if the truck is ok, when it will be used all day. I also got codes for truck running lean which I thought was related to the bad o2 sensor.

thanks for any help

john
