Put battery on charger for a few hours - tried to start - car started for moment then shut off - started again for moment then shut off, turned key again -nothing - tried to jump -wouldnt take jump. Purrchased new battery - installed new battery& posts - went to start -turned key - car wont turn over - nothing - Lights -radio all work. Tried to manually start with key on position - starter turns engine but wont turn over. Checked all fuses /relays - all look good. How do I test the ignition switch - yur thoughts?

Have you got a security light on or flashing when you try to start it. You may have to reprogram the immobilizer at the dealer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yep, it requires programming that you can only get from the dealer or an electrical specialty shop and they are pretty rare. That flashing light confirms it.

Once you get the car there, programming us usually in the range of one hour labor, probably around $100. Call them first and ask. Tell them you think you need your security system reprogrammed due to a battery failure.

Hammer Time , I have an appointment next week with the dealer. Quick question - is this the process each time a battery is changed or is the security code enabled because of the attempt to jump start the car. I also changed the batteries in the remote to lock and unlock the doors , was hoping this may reset the computer. The car now cranks over from the key(good thing) but still doesn't turn over. As I stated previously - it did start and ran fine for the ride home. I asume the security system still needs to be reset.

Cranking and turning over mean the same thing. You mean it's cranking but not starting. If your security light is still on, then you still have a problem. This doesn't happen every time the battery goes dead but it does happen occasionally.
