hey, i have a ford mustang 2000, 95k miles on it. Its pretty cold where i am at and its been snowing. I usually warm up my car every morning . well today i let it warmup, and everything is fine. EXCept for the fact my stick ( i have an auto tranny) did not want to budge from park... i did hit the brake, and i did move my wheel. none of that helped. I opened the hood, to see if maybe i needed to take the battery out, and reset my car compute. I closed it back up, and out of nowhere it worked. i drove around , parked again. And bam it happened again, i plan on getting it towed tommorow... to a mechanic. Im just wondering what the issues could be, and how much i could be expecting to pay.

It's a fairly common prob . There is as interlock pin that prevents you from shifting out of park unless the brake pedal is pressed . Ford had a prob years ago with cars going into gear when not wanted. Most tiimes its fuse or bad brake switch . Less common is bad solenoid.Yours sounds like a bad brake sw. LIFE'S SHORT GO FISH

Verify your brake lights are working first. If not, check the brake light switch and the fuse that feeds it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
