my s 10 is making weird noises plz help

my 1993 s10 pick up with the small v6 (idk what liter it is ) has 189000 miles on it and has recently started making a weird clanky grinding noise it sounds like its coming from the drive shaft or possibly rear end housing it doesnt seem to effect anything and happens when the gas is applied or when im slowing down (clutch pushed in) it is not a constant but is frequent if any one can help plz and thank you

Did you get under the vehicle and inspect for the obvious. Noises are hard to diagnose without actually hearing them. You may be onto something with the driveshaft though. Maybe you have a U joint making noise. A bad u joint will make noise on acceleration. It will sound like two hot lovers on a squeaky spring bed. Unbolt the drive shaft and check the joints' movement. If you see rust or a joint is binding, there is a problem.
