The pulleys and belt in the system may be at fault and should be checked. Taking belt off and spinning each item can help locate a bad one. Sometimes belt itself and worn pulley surfaces create strange noises. Spraying WD-40 on the belt and then problem solved for a short while can show that and a belt replacement usually solves it, if so.
