Sign In Have the codes pulled and report back on the engine light. We will be glad to help. As far as the shaking it may be a bad motor or transmission mount. Sign In The service light was coming on like crazy last year after it had been running for awhile; when I took it to the mechanics, they would run the diagnostic and a generic code would come up and the light would disappear. When I talked to VW, they had said the light would normally disappear after 3 cold starts. When it came up this last time, I only got 2 cold starts before it started flashing. Every now and then, the triangle warning light will appear. Again, usually after the cars been running for awhile, and it won't shift until I turn the car off and back on again. That I was never able to duplicate for a mechanic, and none of the diagnostics ever came up with an answer. I've heard Jetta transmissions are notorious for problems like this, but this is the first time waiting it out hasn't worked. Sign In Generally, when the check engine light flashes, it's picking up a misfire; Catalyst damage possible.
