Having trouble with my tranny so traded cars w/ mom 'cause she has shorter drive. she ran out of gas (looks like fuel pump went out),dad tried to 'prime' fuel injector, it started, backfired, caught fire, didn't seem to do much damage, mostly burned spilled fuel. -- Replaced fuel pump, now starter is out. am replacing that. will the 'prime' of the fuel injector do any damgae do you think? I really don't know what he (dad) was trying to do, I wasn't there when it happened.

you dont prime the injectors..you have an electric fuel pump that pushes the fuel up..unless your car is a diesel then you bleed the lines to the glowplugs..
if your fuel filter is after where your dad took the line apart it could be clogged from running low on gas
