mitsubishi eclipse '93

I have a '93 Mitsubishi Eclipse and it starts and then immediately shuts off. We replaced the air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, battery and checked the alternator. The only way it will stay running is if I have my foot on the gas...almost like a clutch..but its an automatic transmission. Any ideas???

Is air cleaner assembly all intact and all wiring to it hooked up?
