i have a 92 civic hatch 1.5 (SOHC).......the main problem is that my car when left for a period of time it will not start....it will crank etc....at first the fuel pump was thought to be malfunctioning so it was replaced....though the problem still was occuring. after going from mechanic to mechanic they have gone to tell me that it could be as well the main relay under the driver side. that was changed but the problem still occured. a few months later with the problem still at hand...the car would turn off on me while driving no matter how fast i was going. after this occured i again had it checked with a mechanic and they have told me to change the distributor....i didnt change the whole set just the module but the problem still occured. lastly i had a electricist check my car and told me it was the main computer under the passenger side that was malfunctioning. the ECU dont come cheap so i had another check it for a simple diagnostics test but it didnt show up any codes and he told me that there was somethin wrong with the computer. others have told the the starter/ignition switch as well....is there anyone who can help me with this?

The times it doesn’t start for you have you checked for lack of spark, injector pulse or fuel pressure? You need these three basic things for any engine to run. You’re going too have to confirm who or what is missing? If you don’t know how to test for these or have access to the equipment to perform the tests; I going to suggest finding a shop that you feel comfortable with and leave the vehicle with them to sort out who’s not doing their job.
Going from shop to shop to shop having different technicians take their jab at the problem is going to give you conflicting recommendations.
Find a shop that’s willing to work with you, tell them every last detail of the symptoms; ask them to keep you informed as to what they are going to attempt before they go ahead on their own.
You’ve played the could be game long enough it’s time to allow someone to tell you what it isn’t; yes this may turn out to be a process of elimination to find the root problem(s). But the vehicle isn’t much good the way it is.
