Need to have 93 Ford Tauras repaired. Can't drive with broken CV Joint?? Sitting on a side street. Need to tow to be fixed. Any suggestions. SDWF who is unemployed with 2 kids. Just had to sell my 2003 Saturn that had nothing wrong with it.

There is a entire phone book of service techs but I have always had my husband fix my car because before that whenever I took my vehicle in to get fixed they would fix the problem and break something else to bring back late. Cannot afford to do that. Must have someone who will honestly fix it without jerking me around. I guess it will just keep sitting on the street.

You cant always go on past experiences. You can pick and choose who you feel comfortable with to work on your car. Get someone out, if you dont like the look of them, tell them not to worry about it. Ask your friends if they have had anyone work on their cars that they liked. Your area is a big part. If you post where you live (Town & State NOT ADDRESS) You may get more hits.

May I suggest you join a motor club like AAA or one popular where you live. Without a wicked search we don't even know what country you are from never mind a local place to help you. The motor clubs do towing and will generally tow you to the place of your choice or default to one of theirs which is why they get into the clubs. They meet customer satisfaction minimums or they will lose biz from the club. They may not have the best place for work you need but agian they may. They are a good bet if you have no other help for a good shop.

I suggest a place that specializes in front end work AND does alignments at the same place. Most front end work will need the alignment anyway so why have to go to two shops? I do recommend AAA if available to you. I'm a member and for the "plus" membership I can get towed for 100 miles at no cost to me! It saves big bucks on even non related places and things and pays for itself ~$75/yr with club discounts. Satisfaction with your repair if you use them or they arbitrate it for you! I never did get on their on call list which I wanted because my small operation really couldn't justify the huge expense of a multi milltion dollar liability policy to get paid just $25 for a service call - yeh - that's all they pay! I still do it and all clubs I know of will pay the customer the $25 if you send in a reciept from a non member auto service. Where I live they get so slammed with calls with the first real cold day with calls for jump starts they can't keep up and I get some calls. If you like them it's an easy # Ph: 1-800-AAA-HELP.

When you find a shop you are happy with take the time to tell them so. Introduce youself and tell them you are happy with their work. You'll be so high up on their pedestal you'll get altitude sickness and they will bend over backwards to help you with future needs and if it's out of their own specialty they will direct you to a place they do buisiness with and tell that shop if it happens that they were recommended by the other shop and you'll find yourself having the best possible care out there!
