Hi Andrew,

First off I don't know the specific car at all but that doesn't matter much. YOU ARE SMELLING FUEL IN THE INTERIOR - that's enough!

Ok: Check engine light will show a code but won't tell you where a leak is. Judgement here required! Should you even drive this car? I have to say No!

Will an odor you could look (carefully as any static spark could be a problem) at and around fuel filler cap and neck, tank - any lines and for dampness underhood.

Codes can be obtained for free at most major parts outlets which may show a fuel component problem but you don't need a code with an obvious smell for you or a tech to start looking and fixing that (who knows??) will probably be the solution to the smell and the rough idle.

One more: If this car is garaged parked - ventilate well and safely move it to leave it outdoors until this is solved....
