98 mitsubitshi mirage, i put in the key but ingition switch wont budge

If you have your wheels turn to one direction, turn the steering wheel to the other direction to take the tension off the lock & then try to turn the key..
Or the key may be worn, try another one
Or the lock is FUBAR & needs to be replaced
