ignition lock not turning

ignition key in 2002 dodge caravan will not turn( all keys affected). Steering will not lock, may be related. My son was playing with the steering wheel and shifter prior to this. Is the lockout electrical or mechanical and could there be a simple fix.[:(]

lock out is mechanical.try pushing on the shifter while working the key.it's in a bind or the assembly is broken
