i need advice- i regret buying the car i got Sign In

I am 24 and recently bought a used 2006 toyota camry LE for $13,000, right now it has 44,000mi. this was purchased in march earlier this year. its the first car i've ever bought. i thought it was exatly what i wanted but having driven it for about 4 months im not sure how i feel about it. The car is definitely great for what it is, a straightforward sedan, its nice, comfortable, good mpg, etc. i am having second thoughts because its kind of a big car and i am in boston a lot(possibly moving there soon) and somehow got my mind onto subaru impreza outback sports. mostly cause its smaller and has all wheel drive, with similar gas milage. also i like to do a lot of biking/snowboarding/some camping... and it seems to be more of that style vehicle (if that even counts as a valid reason). I would only spend what i could get for the camry or less on a different car, but i am wondering, is this practicle? I dont exactly have money to just throw away on cars but at the same time i'd like to be more happy with my purchase. Is it not even worth it to turn the car around so soon or should i hold onto it a few years at least. has anyone else found themselves feeling this way shortly after getting a new car?

jbourne; I've felt the same way. It's called buyer's remorse.Unsure The Camry is a good vehicle. Good for what it's designed for...transportation. With normal maintenance, it will treat you well. You would take a bath, financially, if you decided to trade off, now. There is nothing wrong with driving a four door sedan. You may not pick up as many chicks as if you were in a Corvette, but hey, gotta look at the realities. It will get to your destinations...camping, biking, snowboarding, ect., just fine. Who are we trying to impess? At 24, you've made a very wise decision. Most kids that age would go for what's 'cool'. Be happy with your purchase. Laugh all the way to the bank. I wish I'd had your knowledge when I was your age! The Camry will fulfill your needs for a long time. Just do the normal maintenance that it asks for. Just like a having a child.Smile

jbourne: Hey just a tidbit from a reader about your Camry. While I have never owned one, I have driven them. My parents are on their third Camry now and not because they break down. They don't; that is why they are on their third. The first, they gave to my sister who drove it until almost 300,000 miles and then she donated it to someone else. My parents have never experienced any mechanical headaches with these cars; they are solid. Maintain them, and they last. Like Loren said, its not a Corvette but I think in the long run you will be money ahead(money for fun things to do) with a very reliable car for transportation. Just a thought. Jason.
