Hi, I just purchased a 1997 vw cabrio highline with 111000 miles on it. When I got the car, I of course did not ask if it had more then one key. When I got the car, the only key is the main key with a light on it (that does not work of course) with the letters AH, but no numbers. There was no manual for the car, and no other key. My question is, does the car have the capacity for a keyless remote. I have seen them for sale on various sites, and they say they are compatible, but I am not sure. I called a vw dealer, and he said that if my key has groves on the outside, it would not have a remote? Can anyone help. I am going crazy with this. In additon, how can I get another key made if I don't have the code for the key. Just have it copied instead of having an original? Please help.
