goes reverse, won't catch drive or 1st

the gear was forced to reverse while driving. the next day the battery died and we bought a new one, then the car would not get drive, but it would drive reverse, I changed the battery again to a new one that belongs to it, also changed the sensor. Checked the fluids

The car was put into reverse while driving forward???
Then the battery was replaced ... what sensor did you replace??
