gas gauge - 2000 chevy 1500 silverado pickup

2000 chevy 1500 silverado pickup
6 cyl 100,000 mile
when i fill my tank up my gas gauge goes to empty and my low fuel light comes on when i hit my brakes or a bump the gauge goes to full & the light goes out.
This goes on for about 50 miles or so the the gauge goes to full the light stays out but gauge never goes
down when i have 425 miles i fill up again but b4 i fill up my gauge only reads 3/4

Probably a bad sender in the fuel tank. They fail quite often.
