need to replace fuel pump on 84 chevy van...where does bolt go to hold rod?

Look on the front of block. See if there is a small plug or a bolt that can be removed to allow a bolt to thread in there. If you can't find it, use some thick grease on the rod and it should hold up until you can place the pump.
