Sign In Do fuel pumps go out all at once or could it be a gradual thing ? I have a 97 gmc sierra w/220,000 miles,this morning it would not start, and I did not hear the normal whining sound the pump makes when the key is turned to the on position, went to breakfast came back tried it again and it started ? IMO - life expectancy is somewhat unknown. If you can catch it down you could do some tests. If you want to try something as a maybe try putting in a new fuel pump relay??
