find 88 gmc 5.7 oil pressure sending unit

 88 GMC 2500 4x4 5.7 engine
Trying to find the oil pressure sending unit. I have looked near the distributor on the drivers side and can't find it. I saw something big there but it appears to have a vacumn hose attached so that cant be it. I have looked on the net and found two diff models of switches so I can't buy a new one till I know what I am buying.
Is this switch up on top of the engine where you can see it, or is it down on the block further out of sight?
If someone could help me with detailed instructions it would be so appreciated.
I have read that it is center......back of engine.......right of the distributor.......but I don't see it
