Does the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am 2.2 Liter have egr valves and sensors?

The 97 Grand Am doesn't even come with a 2.2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I agree, however I have a customer that claims that is what is in her car, and that it does not have, or call for and egr valve. When I looked up her model it calls for a 2.4 liter. I'm a salesman for a repair shop and do not have an extensive automotive background. I'm pretty sure that any car made after 1975 has to have a catalytic converter and therefore has egr valves and sensors. Is this correct?

Let me be clear. There is no 2.2 in that car so I can't very well research the system if I don't know what engine it has. No, not all engines are required to have an EGR valve, converter yes. If it is a 2.4 engine, then yes it does have an electric EGR valve with all sensors built in to the valve. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
