How far can you drive without transmission fluid before damage is done to the transmission? Took out 2002 chevy venture in yesterday...had the oil changed, tune up, serpentine belt changed, and the transmission fluid changed. Got it back around 2:30 and have driven about 60 miles since then. It starts acting up today and hubby checked the fluid at 6 and it is almost bone dry. Guess they forgot to put fluid back in I am taking it back in the morning but now am worried about long term effects to the transmission. It's almost paid off and have had no major problems with it. thanks in advance. Demand them to do that because it will get the little medal pieces of gear out. If they refuse tell them your husband saw medal slivers when he checked. Don't be alarmed. should be fine. Driving with it way too low could cause damage.
