driving on roads that are sloped to the left or right Sign In

Hi all;

Over the past 6 months or so I've noticed that when I drive on roads that sloped to the left or right a little, like the shoulder lanes on highways tend to be, that the car seems to want to follow this slope quite a lot. As a result, I have to correct the steering in the opposite direction.

Is this normal behaviour? Im not talking about driving on hills, or severe slopes, just on normal left to right gradients that happen on normal roads. For example, the shoulder lanes of the highways around here tend to be sloped towards the side a bit, I guess for drainage.

Any advice is appreciated!

It is completely normal for a car to pull toward the crown of the road. In your case you may have excessive wear in some part of the steering linkage making you have to constantly correct.

Agree with HT - normal. Roads need that crown or hold too much water and would be a hazzard. Might minimize feel of that by making sure tires are at proper pressure if low now,
