disappearing odometer numbers!!

1997 buick century custom. Had been working on a door lock fuse problem that was draining the battery. Finally just took the fuse out and it starts up every time. Now noticed that the odometer reading is gone off the instrument panel. Trip switch works. Drove it down the street and now only shows 2 miles on the odometer. What in the world happened??? No recalls on the clusters. But where in the world would we look for the problem. Want to sell the car so don't want to put a bunch of $$$ into it. Help!! Thanks from anyone out there.

What was the name of the fuse you removed? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Took out the 20 A Door Lock Fuse from passenger side box. F7. Tried putting it back in to see if that was the problem but no numbers.

That fuse also powers part of the BCM. If you put the fuse back in, does your odometer come back? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Sounds like a coincidence. Can't really see how that fuse has anything to do with the instrument cluster. It appears that your car heard you were going to sell it off and got pissed. Check your fuses in that block you pulled the door lock fuse. Make sure they are all plugged in fully and for some mysterious reason didn't blow out. Some of those fuses are for the instrument cluster. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Will do a check of all fuses and then off to sell we go!!! She'll just have to start off with 2 miles on her. Thanks for the help. Will post again if a miracle happens.
