cruise control cutts off at 55mph

i can set the cruise oon my 1998 firebird at 60 mph and it will work fine for aminute or so then cut off.
is their an adjustment that i can do ?

?? Brake lights when on will tell cruise to shut off. Any chance that is too sensitive? Probably hard to tell if lights flicker on while driving but a maybe for a cause?? If so - that can be adjusted,
