Hi. I had to drive to work today and I noticed my panel lights fading. No big deal, I assumed it was just the light bulb or something. Then my radio began cutting out. So at this point I assumed it was a fuse or something (I'm not tech savvy at all, mind you) But then I noticed that every time I would apply the brakes the radio was cutting out. Maybe it was coincidental, but I'm not sure. Is it a circuit problem, battery? I have to drive home today for Thanksgiving, i know it's hard to diagnose a car from over the internet, but any ideas would be helpful. Basically, I'm just wondering if i can make it home safely without breaking down on the highway. I drive a 1998 Ford Taurus with about 110,000 miles on it. Other than this it's in good shape. Thanks!

Gotta try something fast here if you want to travel soon with this. Just a possiblility here is that the alternator is failed or failing and the voltage and power of the battery is weak. It may not start when you go out. Hitting the brakes makes the brake lights come on and that takes juice so that battery is trying to dole out what's left.
That's just a possibility. If car starts up - test the speed of the directionals and see if they are slower than you recall or if you have a voltage gauge it should read up around 14v when running or generally the middle of the gauge if not marked by #s.
You really better hurry to get this checked and fixed as in the US anyway things will wind down for Thanksgiving and you may not get any help after like noon tomorrow - Weds - at least like that around here,
