2004 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4. Mornings I have to spray throttle intake to start. If I run it,turn off & come back 1 hour later it starts up fine.

Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut offbefore it is started in the morning when the problem is present.

Mornings almost no fuel pressure. After spraying and running even after just a few seconds, fuel pressure is within specs.

If you don't have the correct fuel pressure immediately, then you have a problem, probably a bad fuel pump.

Re: car won't start Sign In

I'm still having problems. I took it to dealer and they said it was the fuel pump. They replaced it but the problem still continued. Then they told me they would have to take off the after market car starter the, problem still continued. They replaced fuel cap and nothing. After a couple of weeks of pouring money into it I decided to pick up my car with the exact same problem. Then they replaced crank sensor and still same problem. I ran a scan and I got 2 codes. Both were evap emissions (forgot code #). I ran a fuel pressure tester on it was within specs. I shut car off and left pressure tester on it and after a long while pressure was the same (within specs). I released fuel pressure and I turn on key without starting pressure jumps rite-up. I go out the next morning hook up fuel pressure tester and no pressure (pre-start) as soon as i turn on key, I hear fuel pump and pressure goes rite-up to specs but WILL NOT START. I spray air inlet and fires rit-up. after that I shut car off and and restart it fires rite-up. I wait 4to5 hours and it fires Rite-up (no spray). If I let sit for 10 hours there is a 50/50 chance of it starting. Anything longer than that, spray start only. Any ideas?

What was the fuel pressure when this problem occurred?

YES. Has same pressure even once I get it started. Same pressure all the time.

Then you need to use a scan tool in the mornings before it is started and check the temp sensor values. The ECT and IAT should be equal at that time.
You also want to make sure you have no vacuum leaks or air leaks in the intake snorkel.
Cleaning the MAF might be a good idea also.

Re: car won't start Sign In

In the morning the fuel injectors are not pulsating. I checked with a noid light and there was nothing. Seeing the crank sensor was replaced should the cam sensor also be replaced and does that have anything to do with the fuel injectors injecting? Is there a way to test the cam sensor?

Check to see if you lost spark also. If not, check to see if it was the power side or the pulse ground side of the injectors that you lost.
