if u buy a new battery and put in in your car but not drive ur car is there a chance the battery will not be able to start the car when u finally do power it up? after how many days would this occur ? this happened to me and i want to know if it means i have a power leak or if its normal since the car was not driven for maybe 60 days

Any car left for 60 day with the battery hooked up will run it down. All cars have some degree of parasitic drain and the battery should be charged often. They sell maintainers that will keep it charged if this is something you are in the habit of doing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yes, let it warm up fully too. If you expect a 60 day +/- time out for a vehicle it needs tending to or automatic/floating maintainers sold also as slow chargers. Of course this means access to 110 power. Storage if known coming for that long hope it's at least out of the weather or assertively drive it keep brakes from rusting and tires not left in one spot. Hammer mentioned the slight normal drain of power applies to most anything now keep memory items alive. Back to top. New lead/acid batteries are not necessarily charged just when filled new and sealed. It should be but may only be 65% of the full rating new until used or better charged up before you install them save overworking a vehicle's charging system, T
